Flags of Our Fathers

The last book I read on my own was Flags of Our Fathers. Flags of Our Fathers is written by James Bradley and Ron Powers and was published in May 2000. I became interested in this book from a few commercials i saw on TV about people's reactions to this book. I believed that I would enjoy this book, so I rented it from the public library. I have read most of Flags of Our Fathers but I have not finished it, yet. I told another student that also wanted to read Flags of Our Fathers that I would have it done in 2 weeks. When I didn't finish the book in 2 weeks, I gave the book to him anyway. However I plan to soon finish the book.

Flags of Our Fathers is a novel written around the famous picture of the six soldiers raising the American flag atop Iwo Jima. Iwo Jima was a island stronghold held by the Japenese during WWII. Flags of Our Fathers was written by James Bradley the son of one of the infamous flag raisers and doesn't just give you a basic story of the battle of some battle during WWII; it tells of the six Soldiers' life stories and how or why they ended up on Iwo Jima. Flags of Our Fathers is a great book that I would recommend to anyone that has any interest in war-time novels. This book is not just a war book though, it tells you the life stories of six very different soldiers. I really enjoy this book and would like to read others like it.
